I put together these little terrariums as Easter gifts for my children. They are quite simple to make—instructions abound all over the internet. All you really need is a glass jar or vase, pebbles, potter's charcoal (to absorb the excess moisture), soil and whatever moss or small plants you choose. I used a combination of moss and ground covers here.
I layer the pebbles, then charcoal, then soil. I add my plants and pack them in with more soil. Give it a little watering and let some friends move in (the little lamb and goat are from the German company Schleich). Place in a well-lit spot and water every week or so. If it starts to look a little foggy in there, remove the lid for a day.
To those who celebrate, Happy Easter and Passover!
